- All 37 countries we cover have a stated onboarding time from Deel's own per-country hiring page.
- Fastest: Canada, Denmark, Ireland and Kenya, each with a published figure of as little as 1 day, for a hire who needs no work permit and has their paperwork ready.
- Slowest: the UAE, at as little as 20 days, driven by its work permit and visa process rather than the EOR's own paperwork.
- Add 3 days for a right-to-work check on a non-national hire, per Remote's standard wording, in every country we checked except China, where Remote's page doesn't state it.
- A payroll cut-off can push the start date back further still. Remote says its own cut-off (the 10th of the month, unless it states otherwise for a specific country) can delay the first day of employment even once onboarding itself is finished.

Paperwork completeness. Every provider's onboarding clock starts once the employee has submitted the documents it needs: ID, bank details, tax forms and, in some countries, proof of address or qualifications. A hire who submits everything on day one onboards faster than the published figure suggests; one who's slow to respond can take considerably longer.
Work permits and visas. Where the hire isn't already authorised to work in the country, sponsoring a visa or work permit comes first and can add weeks, as it does in the UAE. See can an EOR sponsor a visa? for how that process works and which providers offer it.
Right-to-work checks. For a non-national hire who is already authorised to work, Remote says it still adds roughly 3 days to confirm that status before onboarding completes.
Payroll cut-off dates. Even once onboarding is done, a provider's payroll cut-off (commonly around the 10th of the month) decides which pay run the new hire first appears in, which can push the practical start date into the following month.
