How we verify, update and correct our data

Every figure EOR Ledger marks as verified has been checked against an official source. This page explains what that means, how we keep it current and how we fix mistakes.

A contribution rate, threshold or employment rule is marked as verified only after it has been checked against the official source text, for example:

  • legislation, read in its current consolidated form on an official portal (such as Normattiva, BOE or InfoLEG);
  • social security agencies, tax authorities and labour ministries;
  • official archives of collective agreements, where a rule is set by agreement rather than by law.

Summaries by providers, law firms, payroll companies or other comparison sites are useful for finding where to look, but they never count as verification on their own. Every verified figure links to its source in the โ€œOfficial resourcesโ€ section of the guide, usually down to the article or page.

Anything not yet checked this way is labelled Unverified and should be treated as an estimate. Some costs genuinely vary by employer (for example, accident insurance rates set by activity or risk class); there we show a typical rate, say what it depends on and cite the source of the typical rate. Each country guide shows how many of its figures and rules are verified.

When the law has changed recently or is about to change, we say so on the page and record it in our updates log.

We use AI tools to help research, draft and check our content, for example to locate the relevant article in a long statute or to compare a figure across sources. AI output is never treated as a source: every figure and rule marked as verified has been checked by the editor against the official source it links to.

Prices, coverage and features of EOR providers come from their own public pricing pages and documentation. We report them as the provider's claims, with the date we checked. We do not test or use the services we compare, and we never present our content as hands-on reviews.

  • Most contribution rates and thresholds change at the start of the year. We re-check every country's rates each January.
  • We follow announced reforms and update the affected guides when they take effect.
  • Every page shows the date of its last substantive update.
  • Providers cannot pay to be included, excluded or ranked, or to change what we say about them.
  • We don't publish star ratings or โ€œbest overallโ€ awards, because they would imply testing we haven't done.
  • Some outbound links are affiliate links. They never affect our data or the order of providers. See our affiliate disclosure.
  • Our content is general information, not legal, tax or employment advice.

If you find an error or an outdated figure, email hello@eorledger.com with the page and, ideally, the official source. We check every report against the source, fix confirmed errors promptly and update the page's date. Corrections to figures we had marked as verified are listed below.

No corrections to verified figures have been needed so far.
