Check: No severance is owed by law, but a dismissal that isn't socially justified under the Protection Against Dismissal Act is invalid; any negotiated settlement isn't counted.
Every rule comes from our Termination Cost Index, which restates each country's verified law (rules as at 26 October 2026). The calculator expresses notice and severance as a share of monthly pay and applies it to the salary you enter, so the result scales with your figure. US-dollar amounts use the same US Treasury exchange rates as the rest of the site.
Where a cap or threshold could change the answer at your salary, the country's caveat says so under the result: read it before relying on the number. See also severance pay by country and notice periods by country.
Nigeria: The Labour Act's notice periods cover manual and clerical workers, so for a professional hire notice is set by the contract, and the Act sets no redundancy amount.
Italy: Notice is set by collective agreement by job level, and there's no statutory severance for a lawful dismissal, so there's no single statutory figure to compare.
The pay for the statutory notice period (worked or paid in lieu) and any severance the law makes due because the employer dismisses, for a lawful no-fault business dismissal such as redundancy. Each country's route is stated above the result.
What does it leave out?
Collective-agreement and contractual terms, unused leave and pro-rata bonuses, unfair-dismissal awards, negotiated settlements, provider offboarding fees, and payments due however a job ends (such as gratuities or accrued funds), which our Employer Cost Index already accrues.
Why only 2, 5 and 10 years of service?
Those are the lengths of service our Termination Cost Index has verified against each country's law. We don't interpolate between them, because many rules change in steps.
Is the result a quote?
No. It is the statutory minimum for the route shown. Always check the country's caveat under the result and take local advice before ending a contract.
