Korea regulates worker dispatch, where an agency employs a worker who works under a client's direction. It needs a licence from the Minister of Employment and Labor, is allowed only for listed jobs, and is generally limited to one year, extendable to two.

Employer costs include the national pension, health and long-term care insurance, employment and industrial accident insurance, and a severance pay accrual. The best EOR for Korea explains how its model fits the dispatch rules.

  1. 1

    Entity and dispatch licence

Ask whether the provider has its own Korean entity and, if the arrangement is dispatch, its licence and whether your role is on the permitted list.

  2. 2

    Two-year limit

Ask how the provider handles the dispatch time limits and what happens to your hire at the end.

  3. 3

    Severance pay

Employees with a year or more of service are owed severance of at least 30 days' average wages per year. Check how it's accrued and invoiced.

Ask for the national pension, health, long-term care, employment and industrial accident insurance to be shown separately.
